May Member of the Month: Stina's Journey to Wellness

Nestled in the tranquil setting of Whidbey Island, Stina shares insights into her life journey, with a focus on her transformative experience with Pilates.

Born and raised on the island, Stina reminisces about her childhood adventures, finding joy in building forts in the forest and nursing injured wildlife back to health. Her spirit animal, the elephant, embodies her belief in love and protection.

Stina's inspiration for Pilates came through a friend, Melody, who introduced her to the practice before the establishment of Pilates Collective. From the outset, Stina was captivated by the one-on-one sessions, recognizing the potential for positive change.

Since 2019, Pilates has been a steadfast companion in Stina's life. Unlike previous workout routines, Pilates has become an integral part of her lifestyle, offering not just physical benefits but also mental and emotional well-being.

One of the most significant impacts of Pilates for Stina is its ability to foster mindfulness and presence. During each session, she finds herself fully immersed in the practice, leaving with a sense of grounding and strength that permeates her daily life.

"The most impactful thing about Pilates is that it forces me to be present in my body for a whole hour. I struggle with focusing and being in the moment and Pilates has been extremely therapeutic for me."

Beyond the studio, Pilates has taught Stina the invaluable lesson of the mind-body connection. By moving her body with intention and awareness, she has experienced profound changes in her outlook and overall quality of life.

Stina's commitment to Pilates is unwavering, scheduling her week around sessions as a form of preventative healthcare. The results speak for themselves — increased vitality, improved posture, and a deep sense of well-being.

"Start with reformer and think of it as a gift yourself or self care instead of a workout you have to do."

"The instructors really want to see us succeed. It’s a very supportive and welcoming environment."

"It’s taught me to trust my body and its capabilities. I realized my body wants to be challenged and always rises to the occasion even when I am doubting."

Outside of her Pilates practice, Stina finds joy in managing Airbnb's with Good Heart Homes and cherishes her role as a full-time mom. Cooking and hunting for second-hand treasures are among her favorite hobbies, reflecting her appreciation for simple pleasures.
